The Week in Healthcare
Comms jobs under threat
Nycomed Products has chosen HSD Communications to handle medical comms activity for the pharma firm's portfolio of products. The account will be headed up by MD Lesley Scott, reporting to Nycomed marketing manager Clare Steenson.
Athena Medical has bolstered its team with the appointment of Jacky Broersma as account director. She joins from her role as senior account manager at Innovex, where she worked on rheumatology projects. At Athena she will be working on international and UK business.
Ten thousand jobs are set to disappear from the Pharma industry over the next 12 months, which could include comms roles. The third edition 2008 Plimsoll Analysis assesses the chances of survival of the UK's leading drug firms and found that up to 75 per cent will need to reduce their headcount.
ScopeMedical has seen a raft of changes to its team. Anika Jones has joined as medical writer from the Medicine and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency. Rebecca Mitchell is joining as medical writing executive. James Tinker and Rebecca Hunt have been promoted to senior account manager and account director respectively.
