Cisco in agency search

SAN JOSE: Cisco Systems is searching for an outside PR agency after consolidating its corporate communications team.
The company sent out an RFP and is in the final stages of choosing a firm, said Terry Anderson, senior director of Cisco PR.
Weber Shandwick, the incumbent, has not returned calls for comment as to whether it will defend the account.
Anderson said the networking technology company consolidated its internal communications teams under Blair Christie, the VP of corporate communications.
Anderson said Cisco has embarked on the next phase of its growth, moving into new markets, and telling the story of the power of networking and what it calls "the Human Network."
"As part of that, Cisco has taken steps to make its communications even more strategic," Anderson said.
On Wednesday, Cisco received US antitrust approval to acquire Web security firm IronPort Systems.
